What happens during the check-up?
During the periodic check-up we assess your whole mouth: teeth and molars, gums, mucous membranes and existing fillings, crowns or implants. We look for early cavities, wear, gum inflammation and other changes. From time to time we take X-rays so that we can also assess the areas between the teeth and underneath existing fillings.
After the examination we discuss what we have seen, in plain language rather than technical terms. If something needs attention, we explain the options and what happens if you do nothing for now.
Why have regular check-ups?
Many oral problems start small and painless: an early cavity or mild gum inflammation usually goes unnoticed. That is precisely when treatment is simple and affordable. Those who only come in once it hurts often face more involved and more costly care. Regular check-ups are therefore the best and most economical form of dental care.
How often is a check-up needed?
For most people, once or twice a year is appropriate. We tailor the frequency to your personal situation: the health of your gums, your susceptibility to cavities and any ongoing treatments. Not more often than necessary, but not less either.
After the check-up
You receive concrete advice about caring for your mouth. Where useful, we arrange an appointment with the dental hygienist or a follow-up appointment for treatment, always with an explanation and, for larger treatments, an estimate in advance.
