Switching step by step

  1. Register

Register using the form, and we will contact you to schedule your first appointment. Registration is free and without obligation.

  2. Cancel with your previous dentist

You do that yourself. We are not permitted to deregister you from your previous practice on your behalf; that takes a message from you. It only takes a moment; you are welcome to use the example below.

    Example message

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I have registered with Kliniek voor Tandheelkunde Wassenaar as my new dental practice. Please deregister me as a patient. I consent to my records being transferred to my new dentist.

    Kind regards,
[your name, date of birth and address]

  3. Have your records transferred

To get off to a smooth start, it helps if we know your dental history. You request your records yourself from your previous dentist; that is how it is arranged. The example message above takes care of deregistration and transfer in one go, and your dentist is required to cooperate free of charge: the records are yours. And if they take a while, we simply start; during the first consultation we build a complete picture ourselves.

  4. First consultation

If you already have the details, please bring them to your first consultation; this way we can avoid taking unnecessary new X-rays.

Ongoing or planned treatment

Are you in the middle of a treatment, or is something still planned? That is no problem. During your first consultation we discuss what is under way and look together at how best to continue or complete it. Preserving your own teeth is always the starting point.

Your family can switch with you

The whole family is welcome. Children can come from their very first tooth; regular dental care for children up to the age of 18 is covered by the basic health insurance. When you register, please mention that you would like to register several family members.

The practice opens in September, after the school holidays, and registration is open. You can register using the form; we will then call you to schedule your first appointment.

Questions about switching

Can I simply switch to another dentist?

Yes. You are free to choose your own dentist and may switch at any time. Register using the form on the website; there is no waiting list to register.

Do I need to cancel with my current dentist first?

Yes, you do that yourself with a short message to your previous practice. There is an example message higher up this page that you can use. The example message also asks for your records to be transferred to us.

How do I request my records and X-rays?

You request your records yourself from your previous dentist; the example message above arranges that directly, and your dentist is required to cooperate free of charge. You can also bring recent X-rays and treatment details to your first consultation, so we can avoid taking unnecessary new X-rays. And without records we can simply start as well.

What happens with ongoing treatment?

Discuss any ongoing or planned treatment during your first consultation. Together we will look at how best to continue or complete it, with preserving your own teeth as the starting point.

Does the dentist in Wassenaar accept new clients?

Yes. Registration is open: new clients and families are welcome to register. The practice opens in September 2026; after you register we will call you to schedule your first appointment.
